Reston Festival 2010 Sub-Committee Members Needed

Volunteers Needed to Serve on the Reston Festival 2010 Sub-Committee

This will be Reston’s 46th Birthday Celebration and we hope you will join us in the planning process.   We need your help in the pre-planning stage to the actual assistance the days of the festival.

With the continued growth and success of the Reston Festival it’s important that committee chairs and committee members understand their role, function and duties for each planning segment. We currently need volunteers to chair and serve on the following sub-committees: Activities, Crafter, Logistics, Publicity, Sponsorship and Volunteer.  The sub-committees meet once a month and more as we get closer to the festival.  The sub-committees will have one chair and up to five volunteers.   The Chair of the committee should report to regularly scheduled planning sessions for the entire group. The committee chair reports to the Reston Festival Chairperson, Jim Traylor.

Festival Dates: Saturday, July 10th (Noon – 10:00PM) and Sunday, July 11, 2009 (Noon – 7:00PM) at Reston Town Center

Activities Committee – This committee is responsible for planning and implementing hands-on activities for children and teens as well as recruiting roving entertainers while providing a safe area for them to operate. They work with, and act as liaisons between the groups managing the activities area.

Food Committee – This committee is responsible for recruiting a variety of quality food vendors and organizing/managing the beer & wine garden. They work with the ABC department, Health department and Fire Marshall to ensure these vendors are in compliance with all the rules and regulations to provide food/drink.

Sponsorship Committee – This committee must work in advance of the festival to acquire the funds needed to implement this event and must work with the publicity committee to ensure sponsors receive the publicity they require based on their contribution level.

Publicity Committee – This committee works with the Publicity Chairperson and local media to create guidelines for the production of marketing materials for all aspects of the Reston Festival (i.e., flyers, banners, ads, brochures).

Volunteer Committee – This committee is responsible for recruiting volunteers for the days of the festival. The volunteer committee may choose to recruit volunteers from area schools, churches, and other civic organizations. The volunteer committee will recruit to fill the number of volunteers needed and the time slots needed. They will provide that list to the committee chair and the chair will contact each volunteer with their job duty, and details of where and when to report. The volunteer committee will be on-site during the Reston Festival to assist with volunteer registration.

We also need volunteers the days of the festival!
